(12 Days )
Day 1 : Negombo
Today's journey starts at Negombo, a coastal town renowned for its fishing industry and gorgeous sands. It's a wonderful area to unwind after a long flight and watch fishing boats bring in the day's catch or a breathtaking sunset over the ocean. It's located to the north of the airport.
Day 2 : Negombo
Yoga class is how the day begins. As the light comes up, we'll set up our mats near the river's edge and practice some easy poses. A local instructor will lead the class, which is appropriate for both absolute beginners and seasoned yogis. There will be at least one sun salutation during the class at this time!
Other options include sleeping in instead of going to class and enjoying the sunrise from your balcony.
After a filling breakfast, we'll return to the water's edge and board kayaks to tour the Kala Oyu River's backwaters. We have an excellent opportunity to try and locate birdlife because the river is calm and peaceful.
Day 3 : Negombo & Chilaw
The day will begin with us setting up our bikes and traveling briefly to Nainamadama, where we will start our morning ride. As we drive along the coast, we are treated to a consistent view of the ocean on our left and towns and palm trees on our right. Before stopping for lunch in Chilaw, we'll travel around 30 kilometers (miles) across flat, easy terrain in three hours.
After a stop for lunch, we'll continue inland to the Backwaters Lodge, where we'll spend the next three nights, leaving the bikes behind. The resort, which is located on the banks of the Kala Oyu River, was built by an enthusiastic local team in order to promote the area's natural surroundings and biodiversity.

Day 4 : Wilpattu National Park
For a Jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park, we're up early today. A quick transfer will allow us to be at the park as the wildlife awakens and the light is at its best for shooting. We'll spend around four hours wandering around, and we'll pack a picnic breakfast to eat while admiring the park's breathtaking scenery.
The afternoon is left open for leisure activities at our lodge, local exploration on foot or by bicycle, or further time by the river, possibly swimming or kayaking. We'll have a Barbeque by the riverbank this evening.
Day 5 : Explore Anuradhapura by bike
We'll travel to Anuradhapura after breakfast, where we'll rent bikes and explore the historic ruins at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was first inhabited about 500 BC, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world. We'll ride bikes to the Brazen Palace, the Holy Bodhi Tree, and the Ruvanvalisaya Dagoba, a 90-meter-tall temple that towers over the surrounding area. As we travel from site to site, we will cover about 10 kilometers of flat terrain during the morning.
Day 6 : Habarana
After breakfast, we are heading to the Sri Lankan hamlet of Hiriwadunna. The relaxed rhythms of small-town life are on display during this private day trip to the village. You can observe crocodiles, butterflies, and birds in the reservoir while the locals fish and wash their clothes.
After a boat trip, board a bullock cart and go through rice fields and rural vegetable plantations to a traditional village house, where you will eat a complimentary lunch that is really Sri Lankan!
Day 7 : Riverston
This morning, on our route south, we stop at the Knuckles Mountain Range on our approach to Riverstone Point. The name of the range comes from its likeness to a clinched fist, and as we travel, we'll have stunning views of the Mahaveli and Matale Valleys, an island-exclusive beauty. We'll be out for around 3 hours on a gentle to moderate stroll in a region rich in both historical and natural significance.

Some of the best whitewater rafting in the nation can be found on the Kelani River, which is surrounded by a spectacular scenery of towering cliffs and untamed water. The grade 2-3 rapids nearby offer us the ideal balance of sight and thrill. The surrounding jungle served as the backdrop for the 1957 movie Bridge on the River Kwai. We raft down to Kitulgala through a 7 km stretch of river, passing through 8 rapids, which typically takes 1.5 hours to complete (dependant on water levels).
Day 10 : Galle

This morning, we'll head out on the water, with the option of using sea kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. We'll paddle gently along the coast beginning at Galle's Old Pier, pausing for lunch on a beach, and then paddling back. This is a wonderful way to enjoy Sri Lanka's stunning coastline and is appropriate for both novices and people with previous paddling expertise.
Day 11 : Mirissa
