Sri Lanka Food Tour
(7 Days )

Greetings from Sri Lanka!

This nation, known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean," charms visitors with its palm-lined beaches, sprawling plantations, and historic buildings. A foodie's delight, Sri Lanka has cuisine from all over the world, including Indian, Portuguese, Malay, English, Arab, and Dutch.

Day 1 : Negombo

To catch the activity at the Negombo fish market, get up early today. The market, which is located at the northern end of a lagoon, is well known for its lobster, crab, and prawn offerings. Get a terrific view of local business as you navigate among stands filled to the brim with seafood and listen to the vendors shout out their offerings. Visit a coconut plantation next to learn why Sri Lankans place such a high value on this superfood. Discover how each part of the tree contributes to daily life, drink from a king coconut, observe "toddy tappers" as they separate the palm wine from the coconut sap, and then sample the end product.

Day 2 : Dambulla

Our next visit is Dambulla, home to a magnificent collection of cave temples that date back to the first century BC. Many pilgrims still flock to this World Heritage Site. We'll go to five different caves, where there are lots of Buddha statues and a few Hindu god sculptures. We will be arriving in Habarana after having a traditional Sri Lankan meal of "rice and curry” served in 'Nelum Kole' for lunch.

After short walk within the paddy fields & vegetable cultivation you can reach village house. At the village house you can relax & taste a delicious Sri Lankan Lunch. Then take a Tuk Tuk ride to tour start location which will you give you an unforgettable experience!

Day 4 : Sigiriya

We're getting an early start today because we want to climb Sigiriya Rock before the masses arrive and while it's still chilly. One of Sri Lanka's top tourist destinations, the ruins of this fifth-century "Sky Fortress" are a magnificent sight to see and a masterpiece of engineering. It is regarded as one of the greatest preserved instances of ancient urban design in the entire world and was constructed in just seven years as a fortified palace to safeguard the reign of the cruel King Kassapa, who had murdered his father and removed his brother. Despite its legendary impregnability, the king was unfortunately overthrown here by his brother after only 18 years in power. The hopper, one of Sri Lanka's best snacks, is a fantastic opportunity to sample it today! These delectable delicacies are made of bowl-shaped, ultra-thin pancakes made of rice flour. A wide range of fillings are offered, from fried eggs for breakfast to hearty, flavorful curries or vegetable entrees.

Day 5 : Kandy

One of Asia's best botanical gardens are located here. Join a Sinhalese family for a Kandyan sweet-filled Sri Lankan supper and culinary lesson in the early evening to satisfy your sugar craving. Take your hand at making string hoppers by rolling out smooth rice dough into noodle-thin threads to form flawless discs (this technique takes practice to master!).

During your spare time, you might follow the sound of rhythmic chopping to witness a chef transform a ball of dough into a sizable sheet of wafer-thin roti, deftly slice, cook on the griddle, combine with veggies and spices to make kottu roti, and more.

Day 6 : Mirissa

Discover one of Sri Lanka's favorite ingredients to start the day. Taste the thick, golden treacle and brightly colored terracotta pots of buffalo curd, which are frequently consumed as a snack, a side dish, or a dessert. This is pretty much the sweetest thing there is, and Sri Lankans are known for having a sweet appetite. Have a great lunch of biryani and watalappam on the way to the charming coastal village of Mirissa (coconut custard pudding). The remainder of the day can be used for relaxation or touring the southern coastline of Sri Lanka's golden dunes. You won't want to leave this paradise, which boasts a long curve of sandy beach, nice quiet waters for swimming, and spectacular sunsets.

You might enjoy riding a bike or taking a tuk-tuk to see the vibrant fishing boats return with their catch of fresh fish to sell along the shore, or you might want to hire a boat to see whales and dolphins. Do you prefer to unwind? Have a beverage and relax while you watch surfers battle the waves.

With a fisherman's family, have the freshest seafood meal imaginable; a delicious crab curry is probably on the menu. Continue on to Galle, a beautifully preserved colonial township that blends South Asian culture with European architecture. Take a tour of the Royal Dutch Fort in the evening to learn more about its 400 years of fascinating history and twisting maze of gallery-filled, tiny alleyways. To spend the night, go back to Mirissa.

Day 7 : Colombo

To complete your culinary tour, travel to Colombo in the north, Sri Lanka's commercial hub. The city has a diverse combination of lively street markets, old architecture, fascinating museums, upscale dining establishments, and fantastic shopping options. Munch your way through alleyways crammed with quick bites, street cuisine, and well-known local restaurants. Celebrate the conclusion of your culinary journey with new acquaintances while eating one more supper with Dutch Burgher influences.

Tonight, you will be taken on the famous “Isso Wade – Prawn patty” street food tour which you can experience local street food with your travel crew to celebrate your Sri Lankan journey together.
